Lali suggested I pitch an article idea to you.

Hi James!

I am teaching a webinar for Westpac on April 27th, which you can find out more about here.

https://www.retireonpurpose.co/Westpac50PLUS

Lali mentioned the work you do at Westpac Wire and said if I wanted an introduction, I should think about a meaningful article which would be relevant for the wider Australian population. So this webpage is a way of me introducing myself and sharing an idea, which might appeal.

ARTICLE IDEA

The article is not written yet, but would flow something like this:

1. We have an ageing population in Australia.

2. As people leave the workforce and enter retirement years it's a risky time for many, with all kinds of mental / physical health risks presenting themselves.

3. To stay healthy and active requires individuals to fill their 2000 hours / year (which they used to spend at work) with new activity.

4. For many they don't simply want to look at retirement as a 20-30 year holiday. They still want to contribute.

5. So a smart move is to define a new purpose for retirement.

6. Having purpose helps people get out of bed on a morning, to serve something (people, animals, planet etc) bigger than themselves. This brings meaning and satisfaction to people's lives.

7. It also will have a positive flow on effect to create less burden on their families, communities and councils.

8. This idea to create purpose for retirement transcends socio economic, gender, race, sexuality etc as it's really about the human spirit seeking ways to give back in positive ways.

9. One of my mentors is an ex Westpac employee who is currently enjoying his retirement years this way, with a rich sense of purpose. He would probably be willing to contribute to the article. This is his linked in profile.   linkedin.com/in/daven-moldrich-59239a15

MORE INFORMATION....

I am doing some work with a procurement organisation that serves all the NSW councils later this year (https://lgp.org.au/) and created a video, which you'll see below, that expands more on the idea. This would be adapted to make the message relevant for Westpac Wire, but it does give you more context about the article.

And the 2 videos below explain more about the program I teach and the philosophy behind this new type of education I am offering.

I'd love to have a coffee/zoom chat if it holds appeal to learn more.  My details are:

Thanks for reading this. I hope to meet you.

THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS THE ARTICLE IDEA

The video was created for a client of mine (NSW Local Government Procurement) so it would need adapting but it gives the idea of what I would include. The key message is that when older community members play an active and purposeful role in society, it's good for them and society at large.
